« A white wine matured in barrels »
The Domaine Rotier is located near Gaillac in the South West of France.
The vineyard is set in a mid level terrace of the Tarn river, where the « terroir » is made of nice gravelly soils.
Fermentation and maturation are made in french oak barrels. White fruits aromas (peach, pear) are enhanced by a note of vanilla. This wine has a great intensity and is well-balanced.
Grape varieties : 50% Loin de l’œil 50% Sauvignon

Situated on terraces on the left bank of the Tarn River, the 35 ha of Domaine Rotier, a small family estate owned by Alain Rotier and his brother-in-law, Francis Maffre, benefit from a terroir with a gravely soil and influenced by 3 micro-climates (atlantic, Mediterranean and mountain).
A reasoned grapevine culture associated with a deep passion for their vineyards work together to constantly improve the quality of their Gaillac AOC red, rosé, dry and sweet white wines.
Domaine Rotier is mostly known for its great sweet white wine exclusively produced with Loin de l’œil (far from the eye or bud), a very old grape variety from Gaillac, which used to be called Len de l’El. To reduce the estate to this cette cuvée would be an injustice. Polishing up the image of Duras, blended with Braucal, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, Alain and Francis produce fruity and velvety reds.
After a manual harvest and a strict selection of grapes, each grape variety ages one year in oak barrels before blending. These wines are very agreeable and expressive if drunk you but as they are also well-structured and can also be kept during several years in a good cellar.
