THE WINERY
The old stones of the building of the Conti’s property reveal it, wine was already produced during the XII century in this place. Château Tour des Gendres is located on the site of a former Gallo-Roman villa, in the Bergerac, appellation area. Vines were planted on a great plateau composed of limestone and marl. The estate owes its name to the history. In 1903, its owner was indeed Marquis de Foucault’s son-in-law.
It is still today a family business. The two brothers Conti, their wives and their cousin have been running the 50 ha estate together since the 80’s. Their white (Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle) and red grape varieties (mostly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) are cultivated according biodynamic lines with an innovative and perfectionist spirit and grow on some of the best terroirs in the South West. Yields lay between 25 and 50 hl/ha.
Their wines with their wonderful aromatic complexity are well-balanced and mouth-filling.
