| THE WINERY | |
 |
Son of a winegrower, Aimé Sabon has taken over the vineyards of his father and of his father-in-law and created in 1973 the Domaine de la Janasse, a reference point in the southern Rhône. The estate, now directed by his own son Christophe, has gone from 15 to 55 hectares spread over AOC Châteauneuf du Pape and Côtes du Rhône. Côtes du Rhône wines are produced with grapes of Vieilles Vignes (old vines) of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre with an average yield of 35 hl/ha.
Aimé Sabon and his children do their utmost to respect the terroir and the environment through a neat and reasoned work in the vineyard.
The multiple parcels of their vineyards (more than 60) allow an excellent balance between the soil, the terroir and the climate with each grape variety as well as a greater complexity in the blendings.
The Sabons lovingly tend the beautiful vines of the estate and meticulously run the cellar and wine making-process which produces great wines expressing all the nuances of their terroirs. To obtain this result, nothing is decided in advance. On the contrary, every act will be fixed through careful observation of the grapes of each plot.
