THE WINERY
Bernard Baudry, born into a family of winemakers in Cravant, set out on his own in 1975. As time went by, his estate was extended from 2 to 30 ha spread across a wide variety of terroirs between the village of Cravant-les-Coteaux and the hills of Chinon. These soils are mostly composed of a mix of sand and gravels laid on the alluvia terraces of the Vienne River or on a clay subsoil.
The Cabernet Franc, the unique variety of this family estate, produces different wines according to the distinct terroirs as each parcelle of vines are vinified separately.
To maintain the strictest respect for the long-term health of the environment, no herbicide is used and debudding and harvests are carried out by hand to ensure low yields and high quality. Vineyards are ploughed every year in order to create a balanced natural habitat without a supply of chemical products and help the roots to descend more deeply.
