
Most of the fortified wines, also called vin doux naturel, liqueur wines or dessert wines, are produced in the Languedoc Roussillon wine regions of France.
These red or white wines are made from Grenache, Muscat, Maccabeo, Malvoisie grapes. The vinification is different from that of other wines as its aim is to stop fermentation by adding some grape spirit.
Thanks to this process, the natural sweetness and aromas of the grape are preserved
