| THE WINERY | |
 |
Located in the Marne Valley, the House Jacquesson was founded by Memmie Jacquesson in 1798. The business rapidly flourished because of the high quality of the wines produced. They even became the favourite Champagnes of Napolean who often took several cases with him during his campaigns and served it at his guests at his wedding to the Archduchess Marie-Louise of Austria. The Emperor even bestowed a gold medal on the House in 1810 to reward “the Beauty and Richness of its cellars”.
Today, in spite of a great demand, the production (350 000 bottles a year) has not increased. Grapes come from the 26 hectares of the outstanding House estate as well as from other vineyards. All of them are located in the Grands and Premiers Crus of the Champagne region. These low volumes allow the House to still use handcrafted methods and to produce top-quality wines.
Besides, the House Jacquesson produces Champagnes whose quality is based on the characteristics of the present vintage rather than on the typicity of the previous ones. Excellence is always privileged over consistency. This way, while remaining faithful to the House style, every cuvée can have its own personality according to the year. The House Jacquesson might also be the only House to indicate the number of bottles produced and the date of the tirage (addition of yeast and sugar) on its labels.
Jacquesson Champagnes distinguish themselves by their combination of intensity, purity and finesse as well as the very fine mousse, a feature of all the Jacquesson wines.
