One of the largest Bordeaux estates with 200 hectares, Château Suduiraut’s vineyards cover 92 hectares of vines that are planted in a sandy clayey soil. The property is located in the commune of Preignac, a stone’s throw from Yquem vineyards. In the 17th century, the Comte Blaise de Suduiraut created one of the finest property in all Bordeaux and gave his name to the place.
In Château Suduiraut, Sémillon is the principal grape variety (90%) and the balance is of the Sauvignon variety. The harvest is done by hand with successive selections when grapes are completely attacked by botrytis cinerea, the famous noble rot. Racy and full-bodied, the wines of Château Suduiraut, Premier Grand Cru Classé, are of remarkable quality and the last vintages were “grands vins de Sauternes”.
