| THE WINERY  | |
|
With Château Talbot, love of quality and respect of the land has been transmitted from one generation to the other. Château Talbot, which was taken over by Désiré Cordier in 1917, now belongs to his great-grand-daughters, who work together to allow this grand cru to exist in tune with the times, aided by memories of the skills and know-how of the four generations which preceded them.
Quatrième Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Julien, Château Talbot and its huge vineyard of 107 hectares owes its name to Connétable Talbot, an honourable English warrior defeated at the battle of Castillon in 1453. Its unique terroir of hilltops moulded in old Quaternary gravel is ideally located by the estuary. An extremely precise plot management allow to render as closely as possible the expression of this great land.
Grapes are manually harevested and destemmed before passing through a long isothermal passage equipped with a hot-air ventilation system, the only one of its kind in medoc, designed to eliminate the morning dew or rain. Unfailignly consistent, Château Talbot deserves its first-rate reputation.
