In 2004, Château La Commanderie was taken over by Bernard Decoster, the owner of Château Clos des Jacobins, Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Emilion. This estate covers 6 hectares of meticuloulsy tended vines. The soil is made up of gravel mixed with sand. The vineyard is planted with four fifth of Merlot and one fifth of Cabernet Franc whic produce a remarkable Saint-Estèphe Cru Bourgeois wine which ages 24 months in oak barrels. Its neigbour-oenologist, Hubert de Bouard from Château d’Angélus, gives each year his shrewd advice so that Château La Commanderie remains one of the best Saint Estèphe wines with a very good price.
