Located between Château Cos d’Estournel and Montrose, Château Haut-Marbuzet is one of the best-known Saint-Estèphe wines. In 1952, the Duboscq family took over the estate which covered only 7 hectares. Château Haut-Marbuzet now stretches over 61 hectares of vines.
The soil is made up of gravel mixed with clay. Thanks to an optimum vine density, roots go much deeper into the soil and Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (40%) and Cabernet Franc (10%) produce better quality grapes, which means better tasting wine.
No chemical weedkiller is used and grapes are manually harvested and destemmed. The wine making process runs in concrete vats with natural yeasts. In its first years of life, Château Haut-Marbuzet reveals unique spicy aromas but after some years, its personality and its Saint-Estèphe terroir become more pronounced with velvety tannins, ripe aromas and a mellow woody notes. This charming and sensual Cru Bourgeois has the best price to pleasure ratio in all of Saint-Estèphe!
