Château de Pez is the oldest estate in the Bordeaux region along with Calon-Ségur and is located in the western region of the Saint-Estèphe commune. Since its acquisition by the House of Louis Roederer in 1995, Château de Pez has plainly gained new lustre and has returned to the forefront of the wine scene.
The estate is made up of 30 continuous hectares, with 26 hectares under vine. The vineyard is mainly planted with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and stretches over a plateau with well-exposed slopes. The soil is composed of one metre of Günzian gravel overlying a calcareo-argillaceous bedrock.
Thanks to a greater percentage of Merlot, Château de Pez is less severe and more robust and generous with typical spicy aromas.
