THE WINERY
One of the oldest wine estates of Pomerol, Vieux Château Certan is a model of faithfulness to a Terroir and to the traditional practices of the region. Its vineyards spread over 14 hectares in a single lot. Vines and gravelly soils are cultivated with respect for the natural environment in order to produce a unique Pomerol wine.
With a perfect balance between soils and grape varieties, Merlot (50%), Cabernet Franc (25%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) and Malbec (5%) make a particular vine population. Besides, fermentation in large and old wooden vats has been maintained and the use of new oak has been restricted.
Elegance and aromatic finesse which might be obtained thanks to a soft reflection of the terroir dominate. The fine and elegant wine of Vieux Château Certan is consistently recognised as one of the finest Pomerol wine.
