Located in Saint Lambert, near Pauillac, Chateau Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, classified as Second Growth, is the result of the division of the former Pichon-Longueville estate which belonged to Jacques de Pichon, Baron de Longueville, in the late 17th century.
His daughter Virginie, who was married to Count Henri de Lalande, inherited half of his estate. With her strong personality, her passion for vines and her strict management, she left her mark on the estate which has kept her name. One century later, another woman, May Eliane de Lencquesaing, is running the estate. She undertook an ambitious renovation program to give Chateau Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande the rank it deserves, while preserving the spirit of trandition which is part of the estate.
The estate covers 85 hectares spread all around the chateau, close to Chateau Latour, its prestigious neighbour, and crossing Saint Julien. Cabernet Sauvignon (45%) and Merlot (35%), a suprising and inhabitual percentage for a Pauillac wine, are the two main grape varieties of the estate. They give him a good longevity, rundness and suppleness, which are the three characteristics of the Chateau Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande wines.
