The second label of the Fifth Growth wine Chateau Haut-Batailley, Chateau La Tour l’Aspic belongs to the Borie family, like Château Ducru Beaucailleu and Château Grand-Puy Lacoste. The 22 hectares planted to vines, with the usual gravelly terroir, run southwest out of Pauillac, near Saint-Julien. They belonged to Château Batailley until 1942 when the estate was divided between the brothers François and Marcel Borie.
This Medoc Cru Bourgeois produced with Cabernet and Merlot is a great Pauillac wine. Dark, powerful and full-bodied, Chateau La Tour l’Aspic has lots of fruits as well as velvety tannins with notes of sweet vanilla oak.
