Ranked second growth in the 1855 classification, Château Lascombes bears the name of its first owner, Chevalier Antoine de Lascombes, born in 1625. In the 18th century, his descendant, Jean-François de Lascombes, decided to make a great wine at Lascombes. From that time, all the owners of the estate have worked hard to modernise the vineyard and cellars so that Château Lascombes goes on belonging to the greatest wines of Bordeaux.
The distribution of the 84 hectares of vineyard creates an interesting geological variety. The consequence of having numerous parcels is a better matching of grape variety with soil and sub-soil.
The harvest is entirely done by hand and grapes are carefully sorted before a cold pre-fermentation maceration. Thank to this principle, the colour is more intense and stable and the aromatic complexity is better. A great commitment to care from the vineyard to the bottling, grapes with an optimal fruit flavour and a long ageing give a wine with a really good ageing potential which will need time to reach full maturity in the cellar.
